Tips for Eating Healthy This Holiday Season
Gillan Boyer

We all know that the holidays can be a challenge when it comes to maintaining a healthy diet. But don’t worry, I’ve got some tips to help you indulge while still staying on track.
Smaller Portions
If you fill up on lean proteins, grains, veggies, and fruits before diving into the holiday treats, you’ll be less likely to overindulge.
Another trick is to eat before you head to a holiday party. That way, you’ll be less tempted to chow down on all those sugary, fatty treats.
And if you do want seconds, wait a bit. Taking a break between servings can help you avoid overeating.
Alcohol Consumption
Drinking less alcohol is another way to cut down on calories.
For every drink, try drinking a full glass of water to stay hydrated and avoid binging on holiday treats.
Shopping Habits
If you’ve got a house full of tempting treats, try changing your shopping habits so you don’t bring them home in the first place. And if you do have leftovers, share them with friends so you’re not tempted to snack.
Home-Cooked Meals
Home-cooked meals are generally a healthier option than commercially produced treats, so try to cook as much as possible during the holiday season.
Eating slowly and enjoying conversation while you eat can also help you feel full faster.
Other Tips
After dinner, take a walk! It’s a great way to improve digestion and burn some calories. And if you do happen to overindulge, don’t beat yourself up about it. Just get back on track the next day.
Oh, and by the way, don’t forget about your health insurance. It’s important to make sure you have the best coverage for you and your family.
